The Region will ONLY accept ELECTRONIC BID SUBMISSIONS submitted through the Region’s Bids and Tenders website for this Request for Pre-Qualification. HARD COPY BID SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.  Responses must be submitted and received by the Region not later than 1:00:00 p.m., local time as established by the Research Council of Canada.

Description: The Region operates five (5) Household Hazardous Waste Depots, offering public waste drop-off services of Household Hazardous Waste to York Region’s residents.  Three of these sites (Elgin Mills and McCleary Court Community Environmental Centres and the Georgina  Transfer Station) accept garbage and Recyclable Materials in various forms, which are managed under a separate non-hazardous operations contract. This RFPQ will only focus on the Hazardous operations at York Region’s public drop off facilities: 

• East Gwillimbury Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and Recycling Depot, located at 225 Garfield Wright Blvd., Town of East Gwillimbury;

• Elgin Mills Community Environmental Centre (CEC), located at 1124 Elgin Mills Road, City of Richmond Hill;

• Georgina Transfer Station (GTS), located at 23068 Warden Avenue Town of Georgina;

• McCleary Court Community Environmental Centre (CEC), located at 130 McCleary Court, City of Vaughan; and

• Markham Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Depot, located southwest corner of Rodick Road and Miller Avenue, City of Markham.

This Request for Pre-qualification (RFPQ) is open to all contractors who wish to be considered as a pre-qualified contractor to undertake the Proposed Works, including managing Hazardous waste materials at the York Region Waste Facilities. The anticipated term of the Contract is five years with an anticipated commencement date of December 1, 2022.
