The Region will ONLY accept ELECTRONIC BID SUBMISSIONS submitted through the Region’s Bids and Tenders website for this Request for Tender. HARD COPY BID SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Bids must be submitted and received by the Region no later than 1:00:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time. 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Deliverables include, but are not limited to, the annual inspection, testing and repair of domestic and fire sprinkler system Backflow Prevention devices at various York Region facilities, in accordance with the Ontario Building Code, CSA B64.10.1-11 Maintenance and field testing of backflow preventers and all municipal backflow prevention by-laws.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: 

• It is a mandatory requirement of this RFT that bidders confirm that all staff conducting the inspection, testing and repair of Backflow Prevention devices are a Certified Cross Control Specialist as per the Ontario Water Works Association and a Licensed Master Plumber, or Journeyman Plumber, employed by a licensed plumbing contractor. Staff conducting the inspection, testing, and repair of the two (2) Backflow Prevention devices, denoted as “Confined Space Entry Required” in Appendix F - Facility Inventory, are required to be Confined Space Certified as per the requirements set out in Appendix A The Deliverables Section 5 “ Qualifications and Certifications” 

Bids received from bidders who do not meet this these criteria will be rejected by the Region as non-compliant for failure to meet this mandatory requirement.
